Bali Holiday Preview!

So I resisted Bali as a destination for my first experience as a solo traveller because I was a bit put off by the Eat, Pray, Love cliche. Although I haven’t seen the movie, I knew enough about the ‘self discovery’ element that has now become associated with Bali and for me, it wasn’t that deep … or so I thought! All I wanted was to travel somewhere to clear my head and relax from what has been a hectic few months in Dubai. My Bali holiday gave me all that, and more…

From chilling out with locals in Seminyak, partying on the beach at potato head beach club, to exploring rice paddies, wading under waterfalls and discovering balinese culture in Ubud, Bali was an incredible break from my reality. I also gained the confidence to do things I wouldn’t ordinarily do if I were travelling with friends. Being a solo traveller forces you out of your comfort zone and somehow I found my self forming new friendships with surfers, hippies and honeymooners without feeling like a sad solo ranger! It was so much fun!

One of my new friends mentioned that one of the reasons he comes to Bali so often is because the island is so magical, almost as if it has a pulse. Usually, I would smile politely and think ‘WTF?’ but having spent some time here I definitely agree! It seems as though there is a temple on every corner and the daily offerings to the Gods adds a mystical vibe to the island.

As usual, I took a crazy amount of pictures and recorded so many moments to share on my youtube channel (allisbelle). However, for now, here is a taster of what is to come on my blog and on my channel once I find time to edit the videos! I also started a tag on instagram called #delstravels which I intend to use for all my holiday snaps. I gram at least twice a day whenever I am on holiday so follow me on instagram: @dellydoll for nearly live travel updates!

Thank you guys for sticking with me on my blog. I have been MIA due to offline pressures but I am now back and reinvigorated (lots of fresh coconut juice can do that for you!). Bali was the last stop on my latest holiday and I was in hong kong before that so expect some posts on that wonderful part of the world too :-)

Beautiful pictures! I’m going to Bali in June, staying in Ubud. I would like to stay in another part, preferably near the beach. Any suggestions? I’ve heard Seminyak is extremely crowded, not sure what your experience was. Thanks.

Hi Bree, I stayed in Seminyak for three days before Ubud and I would definitely recommend it, especially for the weekend as there are more fun things to do. I heard bad things about Kuta so I avoided it hehe!Seminyak was good fun, I’ll be posting about it next! :-)
